It’s a shared belief that tiled areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, and laundries can have a huge impact on a visitor’s first impressions. The reason being is that these surfaces, when looked after properly, have the ability to give off a shine and appearance that make our eyes want to stare. You would have felt this before, and it becomes the point of envy when our tiled surfaces don’t have the same impact.
So then, how can you turn these dull surfaces back to the beautiful and lustrous state that they deserve to be in?
Getting the most out of your tiles and grout
When it comes to looking after your tiles and grout, there are several things that can be done. It’s inevitable that these surfaces will begin losing their new-look shine from the moment they’ve been placed in your home or professionally cleaned, however, the key is to try and slow this process down.
You should first look at regularly cleaning your tiles and grout at least once a week. By regularly cleaning, you could use an old tooth brush or grout brush and create your own DIY cleaning solution. A popular grout cleaning solution that we’ve heard good results for is to mix two parts baking soda with one part water. If your grout is heavily discoloured, you could try replacing the water with vinegar. Remember, like any new product, it’s always recommended to trial this out on a small inconspicuous area of grout just to make sure no funky reactions happen.
Next up, your tiles
When cleaning your tiles regularly, the majority of supermarket brand cleaning products will give you some temporary relief, especially when it comes to removing soap scum and gunk. Just remember though, with some brands, they can actually make your tiles appear duller over time due to the harsh chemicals that are used, so it’s always best to do some extra research in this space.
When to get the professionals out
If you’re wanting to restore your grout’s original colour and have your tiles with their shiny finish, we generally recommend calling in the professional Wizard Tile & Grout Cleaning™ experts every six months or so. By doing this, and looking after your surfaces in between visits, you can retain those new-looking surfaces almost all year round!
